ARA-290 (Cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid cyclic peptide derived from helix B of erythropoietin, with the sequence pGlu-Glu-Gln-Leu-Glu-Arg-Ala-Leu-Asn-Ser-Ser (molecular weight ~1257 Da). It is a selective agonist of the innate repair receptor (the heterodimer of the EPO receptor and beta common receptor) and is studied for tissue-protective and anti-inflammatory effects that are reported to occur without stimulating erythropoiesis (Brines et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 2008, PMID 18676614).
