Glutathione (GSH) is the major endogenous antioxidant tripeptide with the sequence gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine (gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly), a molecular weight of 307.3 Da, and CAS 70-18-8. It functions as a cellular redox buffer and cofactor for glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase, and is studied in oxidative stress and antioxidant research (Bajic et al., Oxid Med Cell Longev 2019, PMID 31210841).
