IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-I) is a recombinant analog of insulin-like growth factor-I in which the native glutamic acid at position 3 is replaced by arginine, extending receptor binding and markedly reducing affinity for IGF-binding proteins (>100-fold lower than native IGF-I). It is studied in cell-growth and signaling research as a potent ligand of the type I IGF receptor (Prelle et al., Endocrinology 2001, PMID 11181549).
